Anne Marie McInerney
Anne Marie holds a degree in Fine Art Painting/Print from Crawford College of Art & Design and broadened her qualifications further with a Post Graduate Diploma in Art and Design from the University of Ulster, Belfast.
Having taught Art as a secondary school teacher for many years Anne Marie decided to return to her native county, Cork, eight years ago to work as a full time artist. The consistently changing light, life and landscape of her West Cork base provides her with immense daily inspiration. Working mostly in chalk pastel, which she says allows her create great subtleties and sensitivity, she captures uniquely atmospheric land and seascapes.
The vast expanse of the Atlantic coastline has been a source of fascination for her from a very early age, it’s turbulent seas and windswept beaches. She especially enjoys capturing Ireland’s beaches when the tide is out, where endless stretches of sand combine with spectacular cloud formations and light reflects off the wet paths left by the sea. As well as life ashore Anne Marie combines her years of sailing experience with her innate artistic skill to create beautifully intricate and sensitive depictions of the sail boats and fishing trawlers indicative of her local West Cork harbours, Schull and Baltimore.
